Rockin' Relics

I'd like to introduce you to the cutest little 40's diner located in Rugby, North Dakota. Rugby just so happens to be the geographical center of North America! No, seriously!
My Mom and sisters decided to visit this little known diner last Summer and I really felt like I should've been hosting "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives" on FoodNetwork. You know the show? Guy Fieri explores little known places with lots of charm and great food. Anyway....back to my story. We girls decided to do a bit of exploring and had such a great time together!
We walked into this charming cafe' and felt as though we had stepped back in time! Antiques greeted us at every turn and the entire feel of the place was so old fashioned and comforting!
Red and chrome spinning stools, vintage Coke A Cola items, and a Juke box all lent itself to the memorable experience.

This little diner even had some fabulous antiques for sale! What girl doesn't love shopping? :-D
Isn't this little vintage car so cute?!? I was so tempted to buy it for a photo prop!

The menu was quite varied and we had a tough time making up our minds on what to get that hot Summer day (typical girls). Amidst lots of talking, we finally decided on several delicious sandwich melts and of course classic ice cream floats! Mmm...good!

We had a great time together, and isn't that what it's all about? Creating special memories with your family is so important!! Explore new places, try new things, just make sure you do it together. You will never regret taking time to enjoy your family. One day you'll realize that the years have gone all too quickly and the memories you've made are all you have and are so very precious. Don't let the insignificant things of life become more important than your loved ones. Cherish them while you can!

So....if you're EVER in the small town of Rugby, North Dakota....make sure you take the time to visit this quaint little diner. You might just make some special memories of your own while you're there!

A Walk Down Memory Lane....

I am sitting here at my Grandma's house in the "Mile High City" as I write this. I LOVE Denver and I'm enjoying being here with my family. I have to say that it's truly a walk down memory lane. Being an Air Force "brat" I'm rarely able to return to places that hold memories for me, but Denver is one of them. It's the one place that I've been returning to for years, and it's quite nostalgic. I have lots of family here and every visit is accompanied with a flood of memories of times gone by.
This "Thankful Thursday" I'm praising the Lord for several things - One being, we left ND right as the first winter storm was approaching!!! We prayed for good traveling weather and it was as if the Lord parted the storm clouds for us and gave us clear skies. The weather radar showed that bad weather was all around us, but we had a beautiful path of blue skies to travel by despite!

I'm also praising the Lord for my family. I used to live with my grandparents and just being back at their house brings back so many wonderful memories. I'm thankful to be able to take that "walk down memory lane" and know that it holds precious, wonderful memories. There are so many who haven't been as fortunate to have had a loving family, and lots of wonderful memories. It's a blessing to be able to reflect on all that has happened over the years, while spending time with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives that I rarely see.

In addition to this, we're here to help celebrate my Grandma's 80th birthday! My Grandma is so cute! She's funny, stylish, looks 60 (instead of 80) and even has an Ipad! She's techy, stylish, funny, and almost everyone thinks she's Betty White's twin!
My Grandfather passed away four years ago, and we miss him immensely. I'm so grateful to still have my grandma here with us, she means a lot to me and I'm thankful to still have her in my life. Cherishing our loved ones while we can is so important!

I'm signing off to go spend time with my family now.....have a Thankful Thursday, everyone!! :-)

p.s. I would've included a picture of my Grandma in this post, but she refuses until I'm able to take some good portraits of her. haha!

~Making Time~

Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

I've certainly been busy these past few weeks, and I'm sure that you can relate! I enjoy the various activities I'm involved with, and am grateful for my many hobbies. However, something that I'm realizing more and more is that you MUST make time for the important things in life. We could seriously stay busy doing things 24-7. I seem to always have housework to do, a meal to fix, pictures to edit, jewelry to make, the list goes on and on- a woman's work is NEVER done. :-)
I have to ask the following questions though -How many of us go throughout each day without even stopping to read our Bible and spend time with our Lord? How many of us get so wrapped up in our daily chores that we forget to show our spouse and children how much we love them? I think we are all guilty of neglecting the important things from time to time.
This past week I've had my sister, Heidi, and brother Silas out here visiting. We've had a good time, but I can tell you that I haven't been getting as much done. I haven't made jewelry, hardly cleaned house (I'm planning to put them to work though-shhh!), edited pictures, practiced piano, etc. It's easy to get somewhat frantic thinking that you're getting behind on everything. I had to stop and realize that I'm making time for my family. They are SO much more important than anyTHING I can do. Cultivating relationships with family will always be more worthwhile. So what if you get behind on a few household chores (just do what I'm going to do and put your family to work!-muahaha)
In all seriousness, MAKING TIME for our Lord, family and others is what life is all about.
The verse below causes me to always re-examine how wisely I'm spending the time that the Lord has given me.

James 4:14 "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."

"Only one life, so soon will pass, only what's done for Christ will last."
Focus on the eternal, for the here and now is so temporal. Do you know for sure you're saved by the blood of Jesus Christ? Are your sins forgiven? Do you know where YOU will spend eternity?
If you are indeed saved - are you becoming too wrapped up with your day to day schedule? Have you taken time to let your spouse know how much you appreciate them? Have you stopped to hug and cherish your children?
When we MAKE TIME for what is truly important, we'll be amazed how the other things will just fall into place.

I'm filled with thankfulness for my wonderful husband, and family that the Lord has blessed me with!
