Welcome

This blog is about two friends, miles apart, striving to pattern our lives after the Proverbs 31 woman. Here you will find our daily journeys, whether serious, funny, practical, or inventive. Thanks for stopping by and we hope you'll stop by often!

Sharing Hearts Though Miles Apart...

1 Samuel 18:1-4 "

And it came to pass...that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul...

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle."

This "Thankful Thursday" we're writing about how thankful we are for each other. We don't have your typical friendship--with living miles apart (1532.79 miles, to be exact) and not having seen each other in over 11 years--but we couldn't be closer!

Colossians 2:2-3 "

That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

Really--it's so rare to have a friend that you can relate to, differ with, yet have the most important thing in common with--The Lord! We both appreciate each other's willingness to be genuine, honest, and forthright--no matter what. We know we can call on each other for comfort, understanding, and even a good, swift kick in the tail if necessary!

We've got different style, yet appreciate each others individual taste. We don't see our differences as a problem, but rather find that we compliment each other in our friendship. Our differences only give us depth and added beauty!

Genesis 1:26-28 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them"

Revelation 4:11 "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

God created us both--even as different as we are!! And we would have it no other way... ; )

Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

This verse talks about iron sharpening iron and likens it to how friends should be. If you strike iron against anything other than itself, it will dull. However, if you have two like-minded friends who strengthen each other, then you are fulfilling the metaphor of this verse as iron sharpening iron.

Part of our goal in writing this blog, was to edify each other in the Lord. How thankful we are for the Lord giving us a friend that does exactly what the verse above describes! Yeah! : )

May we continue to be that friend always, by God's grace!

Love ya, girl! Love you, too!

  1. Tonight I got a call from an old friend, we were in Italy together. When we left we didn't know that she was angry with me, I know she was upset at a time but I thought it was over. We did talk a few times after moving to ND, but we haven't talked since before 98. Her conversation started with will you forgive me, because I have been angry with you. So long to carry a grudge but the forgivness is there. But she asked me to have my church pray, and Lauren we did go to church together so you are part of the church family , her husband walked out six months ago. In that time the LORD has been dealing with her. Now she wants to be right with him and those she had problems with. So please pray for Joe and Diana. I am thankful this thrusday that God can restore friendships that have been broken. And God can restore marriages that seem to be broken.
